How to CENTRE Your Balance over the Festive Season

Christmas madness has arrived, so I will keep this blog short, sweet and to the point  as I know your MIND maybe filled up already with the to do list, presents, functions end of year concerts and  running around doing everything most people get caught up doing at Christmas.

However what ever it is you are pressed for time doing at some stage you will be forced to
 'CENTRE YOUR BALANCE'

In today's world it is extremely easy to fall out of balance, maybe daily, weekly or monthly. Your threshold will be different to your partners or friends, but you will know when you have lost your centre, your core balance. Understanding your own body's needs and learning how to fine tune your body is critical and it does take time. I have spent my entire life fine tuning, and learning how to find my own core centre balance, and how to restore, and rest my body at a 'CELL' level and now it is my job to help YOU!

Learning how to manage your amazing 'temple', your physical body and align your mind body and soul takes time, and requires tools, techniques that fit into your life and feel aligned to your mind and body. Working out your output versus your input is a great start. On my retreats and workshops you have the opportunity to explore your body and gain the right balance of tools and knowledge to allow you to live  your life with energy, vitality and a renewed happiness and self love that will keep your immune system strong and your body restored for longevity.

It is a way of life not a destination. The ultimate destination to living life centred and aligned everyday with perfection just doesn't exist in today's extreme way of living. Without even tapping into the pressures of today's world we have our environment that can off set our balance on a day to day basis.

NOW all you want now is to find out how you can centre your balance between now and Christmas and hopefully maintain the balance over the Christmas period. But lets face it even over Christmas you will be challenged with drinking, partying, shopping, over eating, spending over time with family and energies around you that may not be aligned to your own. This is the time of the year where we can tend to get on top of one another with school holidays and maybe not use to having extended families and even our partners around us longer than your normal living. In an ideal life or living the Yoga lifestyle and philosophy we would work together, breathe together without judgement or conflict.
What you can do is on a daily basis is use the following tips over the next month to regain balance and centre yourself. Looking after yourself is everything, the rest will be amazing!

7 Tips to centre your balance at Christmas

  1. Nutrition; Eat 80% RAW, VEGAN, GLUTEN FREE, WHEAT FREE
  2. Intention; Set up a daily intention, by sitting in a 5 min meditation before getting out of bed, connect with your breath. Focus on breath first and then think about your day ahead, set a clear intention for the day.
  3. Exercise; Move and Breathe daily. Help your keep your chi energy flowing. Get along to a Yoga class, Tai Chi, swimming, nature walk, paddle boarding, light jog.
  4. Meditate; Begin daily, begin meditation by setting yourself up for 5 minutes, then increase it daily. You may find a quiet spot around nature and sit upright first for 5-20 mins then relax into savasana lying on your back to fully relax, visualise yourself relaxation every body part, work your way up to the crown of your head. Meditation can also be used to balance serotonin and melatonin levels in cases of jet lag, insomnia and depression.
  5. Affirmations; Learn to use daily positive affirmations- when you can begin to be quiet in your mind you begin to hear your other voice, the ego or monkey mind that isn't authentic to your true self.
  6. Goals; Write your goals daily and turn them into a to do list so you can calmly have your Christmas to do list with you where ever you go. By writing things down it helps you centre your balance by downloading the information from your brain on to paper. You can do this at night before bed.
  7. Time out; Create a sacred space or somewhere you can go to centre your balance. The best and fasted way to centre yourself is always around NATURE. Touch the trees as you walk by, look at the plants, flowers and sky around you, breath in MOTHER NATURE. Nature wants you to feel balanced, calm, and at peace. Getting caught up in the busy Christmas rush in shopping centres can create negative energy in your body and stress.
My tip is to stay well away from shopping centres if you can help it.  My tips are to order on line, go when it is not peak time, if you are unable to get your shopping done look at supporting smaller local villages to buy your gifts like plants, herbs, candles and holistic gifts this year at Christmas, you will receive earthy and grounded energy purchasing the gifts and your family and friends will receive it also, mother nature provides us with an abundance of natural gifts to give.

Affirmations for Yoga and Meditation

Yoga helps me connect mind, body and spirit. Not only does it keep my physical body healthy and toned, but it connects me to the higher self. Listen to that inner voice-is it positive or negative?

1.         I am connected in my mind, body and soul as one united energy field.

2.       I have unconditional access to the divine energy.

3.       When I practice yoga it helps me on my journey of enlightenment.

4.      I have clarity and listen to my intuition.

5.       I am open and receptive to new possibilities and opportunities.

6.      I am connected to my breath as a source of inner breath.

7.       I give myself time to sit in silence each day and to connect with nature.

The key is to remember to look after yourself at this time of the year especially and your immune system will support you. In supporting your immune system one of the 3 major organs the lungs are critical for keeping your energy and flowing, getting good quality oxygen to your lungs upper respiratory system means breathing deeply and knowing when you may be holding your breath.

Aim to live a good lifestyle; a healthy diet, try not to  skip your breakfast or lunch, don’t stay up too late,  exercise regularly, try not to be over-stressed mentally or over-tired physically, use meditaiton and relaxation daily…all these good behaviors would contribution to the strength of your own immune system and living an amazing centred life daily.

WA Karratha and Port Hedland YogaFit highlights

What a fantastic 3 Day YogaFit Detox Challenge in Karratha  and 1 Day event Port Hedland success.

It was my 5th year returning to Karratha this year. What a growing and unique remote town filled with such grounded an sincere people.  I am blessed to experience this harsh and fascinating climate and meet some wonderful people.

Each time I visit the groups have grown and I have been blessed to get to know many Mum's and career driven women and this  unique community to a deeper level.

Because of the success and growth of the sessions, it has made it easier for me to return each year  with confidence, to offer  more of what I believe is a natural and timeless practice to help increase  health, fitness and leave people inspired to continue to create healthier and positive changes to mind, body and life.

Many people in Karratha live busy lives and juggle it all. The 3 Day Yoga Challenges were designed for people, to take that time out of your everyday life to stop, reflect, feel and enjoy some stillness.

By incorporating strong postures and beginner level yoga to help unleash energy and create more space in the mind and body it has made a easy to access Retreat for all levels.  With the goal in mind helping to open joints, heart and body to remove the stagnant energy so you can feel a surge of motivation, inspiration and complete detox for mind and body, flushing unwanted toxins from your body.
I also work with a strong focus around body alignment, injuries,  breath and chakra balancing to heal and realign the physical body and fragmented mind.

The 3 Days was a real achievement for the  participants who took part. Everyone showed such focus and concentration in each session. Attending two sessions a day is not easy and took commitment, dedication and  a positive strong mindset not to negotiate, not coming!

The Power of Living Raw Book sold out on the trip, along with leaving many participants my Yoga DVD.  Leaving the locals the book and DVD as  a tool for them to continue Yoga and helping to give people inspiration and motivation to increase RAW intake and make change easy. This is an ancient  way of living and something I practice and value highly.  This way of life heal, rejuvenates the soul, ignites your dreams and goals and increases your happiness while decreasing your stress levels.

Over the past 5 years of visiting Karratha, I ask myself if this is the last trip? I am very excited to know I will be returning next year and can't wait to do it all over again with WA, Karratha and Port Hedland. It's the people of Karratha why I return each year. They show appreciation and gratitude and I can see and feel how much their minds and body gain form the weekends. Living in a remote area is not easy and many people their miss what they use to have in their every day life from living in a bigger city.  Even if that was their usual Yoga Studio.

Thank you Karratha for opening you heart to me and bringing me back each year! I can't wait to do it all over again with YOU!

HIGHLIGHTS

Friday night Power of Raw Seminar,  was well supported and  so much fun speaking about what I believe to be a very powerful way of living in mind, body, soul, preventive health and healing.

A great interactive night with lots of sharing and setting intentions around their health and vitality goals.

Girls in PINK!

It was a great pleasure to have the ladies arrive in pink and raise money for Breast Cancer, a charity many of us are touched by from losing someone to Breast Cancer or Cancer. Thank you ladies for adding some meaning, spirit and fun  to this practice on the 3 Day Challenge.

I even had the right colour on that day and got to finally meet cute Charlie, who is the son of one of my special loyal Yoga followers of 5 years Jo Humphrey.

I finally got to meet Yolanda, one of my How to be a Happier mum book fan from 2010 who lives in WA and also Leila  from Port Hedland who both bought their books along to be signed, it was lovely to meet you happy mums in person and connect.

Port Hedland Road Trip

The 3 day Karratha weekend Yoga was very intense with teaching 4 sessions a day plus, private one on one coaching sessions and the seminar, so the drive out of Karratha into open land and red dirt was well appreciated and most relaxing. With a great driver Sonia, along with her calm and zen energy we got to enjoy a peaceful road trip, rejoice in the Karratha success, snacking on our raw food treats, admiring the open space and quietness.

We did notice a few wild fires in the distance and were quietly grateful they were not stopping us on our way to facilitate the 1 Day YogaFit Workshop. On the way home it was a different story.
After a great day spent with the ladies of Port Hedland, who showed such passion  and hungry for change by exploring Yoga and the holistic philosophy, we were stopped with a road block from the wild fires. They had spread through out the day.
Initially I was wondering where the fire engines were! But learning about the 'harsh' climate they live in, they simply allow the fires to burn out and make sure the roads are safe enough to drive through. We were held up for just over 2 hrs and then set on our way back to Karratha for the early flight out the next day back home to Sydney. Wild fires in the heat of summer were a norm and part of their life, they react to it in a calm way and connect to Mother nature that all will be well and attach no drama around it as long as the people are safe and the fire is not near buildings. All was well and we patiently waited until all was clear.

I wanted an adventure so I enjoyed the stop and time we had to reflect and connect to this land.  So why wouldn't I get out of the car and practice some Yoga on this amazing earth! We got to see the sunset and it was a beautiful serene quiet time.

Looking forward to returning to Port Hedland February and Karratha later  in 2015.

The healing Power of Living RAW

Today's Healing food is Mango as they are in full abundance for our down under SUMMER!

I personally believe you feel the power of natures way when you FULLY align yourself to it.
Let's say you are eating RAW and healthy but you still drink alcohol, party hard, eat sugar, and still have those packaged and processed foods that are keeping the Medical World ALIVE and abundant.

I value Doctors and Health care as there is a need for medical services when it comes to accidents and unfortunate illness in children and babies.
I do believe if you are an adult and herby you have an opportunity to really heal your body and use this preventative way of health and living to extend your life, longevity noisy vitality, happiness and live with more  optimistic attitude
through the power of living RAW! But you do need to make sure you are getting nutrient dense foods and high in IRON, protein, calcium, vitamins and nutrients.

A varied in season diet is the way to go.

Mangos are in season and did you know how powerful and healing a mango really is besides tasting extreme sweet and yummy!
Mango Health Benefits

1.  Prevents Cancer:

Research has shown antioxidant compounds in mango fruit have been found to protect against colon, breast, leukemia and prostate cancers. These compounds include quercetin, isoquercitrin, astragalin, fisetin, gallic acid and methylgallat, as well as the abundant enzymes.

2.  Lowers Cholesterol

3.  Clears the Skin

4.  Eye Health

5.  Alkalizes the Whole Body:

6. Improved Sex:

Mangos are a great source of vitamin E. Even though the popular connection between sex drive and vitamin E was originally created by a mistaken generalization on rat studies, further research has shown balanced proper amounts (as from whole food) does help in this area.

7.  Improves Digestion:

Papayas are not the only fruit that contain enzymes for breaking down protein. There are several fruits, including mangoes, which have this healthful quality. The fiber in mangos also helps digestion and elimination.

Why wouldn't you eat Mango's this summer? Because I know someone may tell you it's too high in sugar! Nature provides us with a new season of nutrient dense food. Rather than dieting and cutting things out line RAW healthy fresh fruit try adding back in more RAW and in season foods that maybe your body is craving!

SO DID YOU SET A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION FOR 2014?

SO DID YOU SET A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION FOR 2014? How are you going? Can you believe the year is nearly over?

Have you ACHIEVED your Goals this year? Well It's NEVER too late? Be inspired today to ignite your goal.
1. Ask yourself:
What worked well for me this year?
2. Next, ask yourself:
What would you like to improve in 2014? You only have 11 weeks. So get really clear and make it achievable and a realistic goal for this time frame.
3. Then, ask yourself:
What is the one thing I would like to master in 2014?
4. DECIDE what you're committed to achieving- here are a few areas you may want to look at to work out what one goal you can work with between now and Christmas.
What do you want in these 9 areas of your life?
1.  Happiness / Well being
2.  Freedom (including holidays, breaks, retreats, travel etc)
3.  Spiritual/Mental
4.  Education/Development
5.  Relationships (self and others)
6.  Health and Fitness
7.  Career
8.  Finance
9.  Family
5. Write your goals down - on just ONE PAGE
Then once this has been done spend a moment expanding your thinking by stretching your imagination out to the end of 2014 to see which achievements are going to make you feel most fulfilled.
Tips
Look at your goal everyday. Write it in your journal, mirror, and use visualisation daily. You have to believe in yourself you can achieve this goal to make it a reality.

You may have seen my daughters in  Yoga postures this week! They have been practicing yoga on and off, taken to classes and surrounded by yoga since they were in my tummy, Lucia use to come to Sunday Yoga at St Lenard's Fitness First with my every weekend when she was only 5. Sydney Yoga lovers may have seen both of them in Brookvale Bikram, Neutral Bay Power Living and over the years around Fitness First. What is inspiring and a  joy to see is her postures these days looking natural to her body, their stillness in their mind and practising the yoga without me asking them or assisting them.

The moral of this story is everything in life takes practice and repetition, and whether you may find it hard at the beginning starting something new, it becomes a healthy habit when you preserver and persist without judgement and attachment. My girls often don't want to do their Yoga, but they always thank me after and I know in my heart they will use this practice in their adult life when they need it. We can not escape problems, challenges and obstacles in life, but we can change how we react to them, respond and take action. Step up to your life, your goals and if you really have a burning desire in your heart to achieve greatness or a goal that has been floating up around the clouds, bring it down and make it a reality by making one simple step towards it today.

                                                      Millijana a natural 8yrs

Goal setting is a big part of my programs, workshops, coaching and retreats. It is a process and it does require like anything, some hard work, discipline, focus and commitment.
eg;
If I want a six pack, I can make it happen, but I do know I will have to change some habits, step up to extra training, commit, believe and visualise. So what is your goal? Let me know by following my Facebook and staying connected. I want kill myself in doing it but I will commit, believe and maintain balance and health in amongst any goal.

Blessings
