Me Time is vital for your wellbeing... Are you getting it?

'Me Time' is becoming more vital in today’s world than ever before. You only need to reflect back ten – twenty or more years ago and see how different the world has become. Time is chewed up so easily with technology... even if you are loving what you do.

Living in today’s world is exciting, and one of the best times for us to be living. We have so much access to anything we like anytime.
This weekend I saw a video clip my lovely Lucia was  watching. The music awakened my soul, ignited my happiness and the lyrics spoke to me. All I had to do within seconds was log in to iTunes from the iphone, search the name; I was guessing it was called. It came up right away, I clicked on it, downloaded the song and YIPEE it was on my iphone before I knew it and I have been listening to it all weekend, and the video clip was on You Tube… so even better free to air. My point is there is so much available to us to source, whether it's a song, book, or course. We live in a very blessed world to have the knowledge and resources our parents just did not have access to.

Today’s world needn’t be all focused on the things many people tend to dwell on such as lack of time, money, love, happiness, fun, peace and the list goes on.
I am here to tell you all of these things are available to us today… and the beauty is most these techniques don’t cost you a cent. I have been passionate about looking after my body, my mind my health for many years now, and I am grateful this is now my job… this is my chosen career. Writing, creating, teaching, facilitating workshops, motivational talks and it feels like  the best job in the world because I am giving, sharing and helping others.

So lets talk about ‘ME TIME’

Your mind already might be saying things such as ‘But I just don’t have enough time, to go to the gym, take a yoga class, read a book, go for a nature walk, sit in meditation, cook, bake, paint, sing, dance’ or ‘Work is too busy and I am under the pump’ or maybe ‘My children consume my time, and I have to clean and tidy up’ We call this Toxic Mind virus.
What ever it may be this is what I want you to sit up and take note… THERE is always going to be SOMETHING to do!

Or maybe you are lacking motivation and spending time consumed doing things that don’t really serve your soul, you mind, and body or help you live a productive life.

Where do you spend most of your time?

If you look that wheel of life , most of us all have to try and fit in similar facets to our life somehow.
  • Family & friends
  • Relationships
  • Romance
  • Career
  • Health and fitness
  • Personal growth
  • Spiritual
  • Personal finance

However, where do you spend the  ‘ME TIME’ and how often do you spend incorporating it into your daily life? It is vital in today’s world to schedule it in daily, not weekly nor monthly, but daily. Because your life is flashing by and everyday your body is taking on amounts of pressure or stress if you are not stopping and spending some time to  restore and renew the blood cells for LONGEVITY.

  • We all get the same amount of hours in one day… twenty-four hours; the question is how do you spend it?

How about depositing some time back to your physical body and soul this week and start scheduling in ‘ME TIME’

Here are some Tips that one cost you a cent. I like to call my ‘ME TIME’ my hour of POWER. Because taking time out reignites your soul, you gain control back of your day, your energy your mindset, in return making you live a very happy and productive life.
  • Nature walk
  •  Reading books to help you learn and grow into the best you can be
  • Your chosen sport, training, yoga class, gym session, be sure to add on stretching, to lengthen your muscles, align your posture, strengthen your core, and calm your mind.
  •  Writing affirmations, goals, action plan with a meditation and visualisation
  •  Relaxation around nature, you might stop in a quiet park and meditate around nature
  • Pamper session, if your body is tired and sore take a soak in a hot bath with Epsom salts and a drop of lavender to calm and relax your mind and body… this one is my favorite. Make a pot of loose tea; try T2 chamomile or Lemon and ginger.
  •   Anything that takes you away from technology is the KEY. Getting back to basics and creating some time without noise to give you the best quality time out for yourself.

The idea is to restore, relax, rejuvenate your mind body and soul and it doesn’t necessarily mean going like a mad thing exercising everyday. Although exercise and raising the heart rate is vital to our body, try aim for some balance and restorative ‘Me Time’ otherwise you may find yourself fully depleted and low energy of patience for anything else in your life.

Personally my Yoga practice has become my daily ritual so I like to add some me time on to that in my day somewhere, even if it is 10 mins of meditation around nature, and then I like to call these Mini breaks along with my Hour of Power. To keep  your creativity flowing and your soul nourished its important to deposit time back, if you are continuing to give all day everyday.

Aim for giving and receiving and enjoying the abundance of beauty that surrounds us.

When we are one way of the other, giving too much, of just receiving and not contributing we can feel out of balance. You know that feeling in your body and mind. This week take control back of your life, body and mind and practice some ‘ME TIME’

Please email or facebook me your end of week ‘Me Time’ I would love to hear your results and feedback.

Live with passion, power and energy

Why drink green smoothies?

Knowing how important our red blood cells are to our well being and to keep them clean, healthy and plentiful wouldn't  we look for something that gives our body the tools to do exactly that?
I have been passionate for many years at studying the human body,  nutrition and fine tuning the mind, body and soul from a holistic perspective.
Since I have made significant changes to my own life and health, such as giving up alcohol over 3 years ago, becoming vegetarian, living a raw food lifestyle and aligning my life to increased happiness, gratitude and success I have included and become to love my green smoothies. Each time I stray away from my green smoothies I can feel the difference in my body physically and mentally.

Benefits of drinking Green Smoothies.

  • Green smoothies are very nutritious
  •  Easy to digest
  • Green smoothies provide fibre are a complete food opposed to juices. Consuming fibre is important for our elimination system
  • By mixing  a ratio of 60:40 the fruit dominates the flavour making something green taste so great. All humans of all age can easily drink smoothie. Especially healing for elderly people or people suffering any illness or anyone needing to increase the immune system.
  • Chlorophyll found in Green plant based vegetables is known to help build and transport red blood cells. Check out this interesting article on Chlorophyll http://www.energiseforlife.com/wordpress/2009/02/11/health-benefits-of-liquid-chlorophyll/  A molecule of chlorophyll closely resembles a molecule of human blood so consuming chlorophyll is like receiving a healthy blood transfusion”.
  • Easy to make and quick to clean up after is one of my favourite benefits besides all the super healing benefits.
  • When consuming 2-3 Cups daily of Green Smoothies you are reducing the amount of oils and salt in your daily nutrition.
  • After drinking Green Smoothies for 2-3 weeks most people start to crave more  greens... even writing this, is making me crave a green smoothie, now that has to be a great thing for your body, rather than craving sugar or foods that are processed with artificial sweeteners or preservatives.
  • Green smoothies will keep up to 3 days in the refrigerator and while fresh is best, this is helpful to know when leading a very busy life at work or home. I often make a batch up to last for the day and at least one ready for the morning. I love the energy I ooze that comes from my green smoothies.
Keep it live, green, and  natural.

One of my favourite Superfood Maca

Maca as a nutritional SUPERFOOD supplement that comes best in a powder provides the body with high generalized tonic effects on the biochemical functioning of the human body. My main interest with the benefits of Maca if the ability to help the hormonal system. Not only does it provide energy but it has the power to be a hormone modulator.
It is a root vegetable and medicine herb. Native to Peru and Bolivia and cultivated in some parts of Brazil.

I work with many women on workshops, Yoga classes and my online 10 Week Mind and Body Transformation Program and many similar symptoms come up for us woman.

It is vital to make sure your body is getting the right nutrients and it excites me with this wonder ancient superfood how it can balance your hormones and provide energy.
Most women I work with are doing the same thing, giving out a lot of themselves to everyone else, family, partners, children, work, friends. Its time to give back to you, and you can start by fuelling your system with nutrients you may not even realise you could be deficient in.

At the end of the day what have you got to lose, by trying Raw Food, packed with extra supplements and nutrients. You will notice the benefits right away as many of my members do on the program. You will feel lighter, leaner, energised, happier and even more sensual.

Lets get back to Maca and the main benefits.

  • Naturally organic
  • Low GI, helps balance sugar levels
  • High in antioxidants
  • Carbohydrate for sustained energy
  • Dietary fibre and will reduce cholesterol absorption
  • Essential fatty acids, omegas 6 and 9 and protein
  • Great source of calcium, iron, magnesium and vitamins
Enhancement of the endocrine function. The endocrine system includes glands and the hormones they secrete that exist in the body and control such conditions such as digestion, brain and nervous system physiology, energy levels, sexual function, fertility.
Hormonal regulation is vital and responsible for all the physiological attributes that enable us to enjoy the sensations of a feeling vibrantly alive and especially those included to sexual arousal, physical activity and stronger mental and emotional state of well-being.
If you are going through menopause or even a tough time emotionally Maca Powder is going to give you the 'pick me up' that you just may  need to get through this time of your life.

Maca root  has the ability to increase the bodies ability to defend itself against physical and mental weakening and potential illness by its power of supporting the  adrenal and pituitary glands.

I use Maca powder in my green smoothies and you too can feel the benefits almost straight away.  I personally think every woman will benefit from Maca powder.

Love and enjoy!

Align your path...

“When you feel like you are not getting anywhere, through hard work, I like to look at a stone cutter… hammering away at his rock, maybe a hundred times with out a crack, yet the hundred and first hit, it will crack in two, and I know it was not the last hit that did it but all the hard work that had gone before.”

I am grateful to have a signed contract for  my second book, and  have this opportunity to write my very first cook book... Although I have had to redo recipes and write and rewrite, I know I will nail it right eventually. My intention today is persistence… many give up when they don’t realize their full potential and success is just around the corner.
Keep on going, when your body is tired and you see no gain and all you want to do is sigh, you must pick yourself up with a mood booster and keep on going down your track. Make it bright, happy, joyful on your way and your GOD,  divine energy, angle  or guides will keep you safe, secure and lead you to love, success, peace  and abundance. Believe in your dreams and don’t let anyone else distract you away from what it is YOU want to do in your precious life.
A mood booster, is to change your state... if you are down, or in a low negative mindset, it is vital to change your state to happiness, love , joy,  and gratitude before you can start receiving all it is you desire.

Love and light Nicky x

Macaroni chia cheese

Macaroni cheese was often a popular weekend dish for me as a child  living in New Zealand, I remember it for the cheesy and savoury taste. I loved cheese as a child. In those days we were programmed that 'Cheese' and 'Cows Milk' is the only way to get the best  calcium intake.

These days living the lifestyle I lead and learning  the rewarding benefits  about raw food I can only look back and see how the amounts of pasta and dairy didn’t serve.  As a child I do remember getting sick often, and I do remember that feeling of heaviness after eating a  dairy cheesy milky dish.

Recommendation for adults is 100mg of calcium per day. One cup of milk has 296mg, but there are plenty of reasons you might not want to drink cows milk from personal to medical reasons.

10 Foods high in calcium that don't come from a cow.

Chia Seeds 820mg/100g -  1 Tablespoon = 123 mg

Seasame 1/4 cup 351 mg calcium

Spinach   1 cup 245 mg

Black strap molasses 1 Tablesoon 137 mg

Broccoli 2 cups 124 mg

Brazil nuts (I use to eat these when I was breast feeding.) 12 nuts = 90 mg

Celery -2 cups 81mg

Almonds 23 nuts aprox - 75mg

Flaxseed 2 Tablespoon 52 mg

Cow's milk, 1 % 120MG/100g

I found a great link to how much calcium do we really need... http://geekgoneraw.blogspot.com.au/2009/11/how-much-calcium-do-we-really-need.html

My passion these days is to share with the world you can get more quality calcium intake in other foods you didn't dream of eating or mixing together and they are all wholesome, raw, and from a plant not a COW! When you think how simple that strategy is 'eating plant based foods, rather than animal' it makes sense your body is only going to turn into a powerhouse for 'Energy and Vitality'
Nature provided and abundant supply of  live grown foods for us to enjoy and benefit the nutritional value from. Most of these super foods I use in the recipes are ancient and been around for thousands of years.
We just didn't know about them. When you open your mind to new ways,

I am excited to create this dish and I know you will enjoy it as much as I did and it is raw, high in calcium and ever so satisfying.

Macaroni Chia Cheese

Ingredients
1-cup cashew nuts presoaked 2 hrs
4 Yellow Squash
¼ cup olive oil
½ teaspoon sea salt
¼ cup of savory nutritional yeast
1-teaspoon onion flakes
1-teaspoon chillie flakes
2 Tablespoon chia seeds
2 Tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon
¼ Shallot
Pinch of turmeric
½ garlic clove
½ cup walnuts
Paprika

Method
Slice squash with zucchini peeler or slicer to create long noodles, allow to sit.
Mix 1 Tablespoon of chia seeds into remaining ingredients and process until smooth and creamy. Add to yellow squash and massage through with your hands slowly and gently, unitl mixed thoroughly mixed through.

Process walnuts and a pinch of chille flakes and sea salt. Top with walnuts as the bread crumbs.

Enjoy!
