10 Week Body Transformation - Changing People's Lives

Yesterday I caught up with my private coaching client Leanne, we have just finished the first 10 weeks together. While speaking with her she shared with me a few things that made me feel like OMG I literally just saved someone's life.
I am not looking for recognition here as Leanne made this happen, I can not take all the credit, she was a dream to work with. Every week I set out the plan and she followed. Not once did she come up with one excuse not to do it, she just trusted me, and did what I set for her to do. I believe when the student is ready the right teacher, or mentor shows up in your life.

I want to share her story with you that she has just emailed me last night. This has not been shared yet and I am sure you will resonate with some of the things she shares.

Is it really about weight loss? No but unfortunately with excess weight comes extra problems, extra burdens, and often depressed thoughts and actions... mainly becoming stagnant and hibernating away from the world.

I will let you read on and find her true authentic story. We have kicked off her week 1 of her next 10 weeks, yep another 10 weeks and we are among another 15 kg. This will be her 11th week and her next check in will be her 12th week.

Enjoy

The week of the 12th of May this year, I had had enough. Something needed to change. I was depressed, I was frustrated with what I had ultimately let myself become. I wasn’t being the best mum I could be, I wasn’t the best friend or wife I could be, I was embarrassed, ashamed and just lost. Really, really lost. I had trouble getting to sleep, I would go to bed tired and lie awake for hours while my husband and dog were snoring their heads off. I would get to sleep eventually and then after a few hours I would wake and the cycle would repeat.
I was desperate.  I was after a quick fix, desperate to see the scales going down. Desperate for any change. I had tried everything I could think of. I had calorie counted, really restricting my calories and then I would end up binging as I would be starving or just have no energy at all. I had done weight watchers on and off for years. I would get so obsessed with counting points that it was taking over my life. All day every day I would think about food and points, it was like I couldn’t focus fully on everything else. I was thinking about my next meal, my next carb hit, my next step to declining health.

That week, I had seen a few posts from Nicky and I sent her a message. I remember it said “do you do nutrition plans and whats the costs involved?” or something similar to that. I was a bit dubious about sending that message as I thought, here goes another gimmick, this wont work either… all the silly reasons in my head why it wont work or why I shouldn’t have sent it. Nicky replied asking if I had time for a quick chat about her program, I said yes and my phone rang. I was extremely nervous. Afraid of the unknown, would it be too expensive, would it be too hard, could I do it? She asked me a few questions about what I wanted, what I had done before, what I was eating… the tears began to flow. I remember feeling extremely emotional on that phone call. There was a lot of pain in my words, my voice was trembling.

Our phone call went on for longer than I expected. I couldn’t believe how lovely, approachable, and caring she was. Totally not what I expected at all. I got off the phone having committed to the program. I needed to do this. This could be the life line I needed. She had inspired me, she had given me hope of changing what I had allowed myself to become. Nicky knew I was at my rock bottom. I think before you are truly ready for a huge lifestyle change like I embarked on, you have to hit this place. That really bottom of bottoms. Anyone that has been there you know exactly what I am talking about.

My first week I had a constant voice telling me you cant do this, its too hard, give up now, stop wasting everyones time, you always fail… basically every reason why I shouldn’t do it. My mantra became one day at a time, one meal at a time. I found by focusing on the next meal and making sure it was 100% on plan that it took the pressure off. I did my first weigh in and lost 3.9 kgs. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t have to count calories, or points. I just had to follow what I was instructed to do. That’s exactly what I have been doing the last ten weeks. Following instructions and each week I have been getting results. I haven’t hit a plateau. My losses have been very consistent.

Week 1 she could see her SKIN clear up and dark rings under eyes disappear... now I have her on board and trusting my work.

Fast forward to today and I cant even recognise that person from ten weeks ago. When I see my starting photo and the look on my face, how dark my eyes were etc it just makes me want to cry. I am so much more confident, have so much more energy. I hold myself completely different now, and in approximately my third week I had a very good friend comment on this. I feel like I have my spark back. My eyes are brighter, my skin clearer, I enjoy going out now, I don’t shy away from social situations anymore. I have smashed so many goals in that first ten weeks its insane. For example, I got back to pre second baby weight, I got under 120kgs, I got back to my pre first baby weight, and I nearly back to the weight I was when I met my husband.  I am absolutely loving life again. I am extremely excited about what the future has in store for me, my family and working alongside Nicky to reach more goals!!

Week 1 Checkin - not a smile yet... but it is coming!

YAY she is smiling... feeling good, only took 2 weeks to get her to smile again.

I will always remember this day as it was the first video call, I think about week 3 when I knew she would feel more comfortable seeing me in person, I nearly cried meeting her in person. Was a special moment... I can remember the love and light she was shining down that video phone call session.

Farewell to food cravings

FAREWELL TO FOOD CRAVINGS

What is a craving?
Craving: a powerful desire for something

Today we are going to chat about beating food cravings.

Everyone has moments of vulnerability when they change something big in their life whether it be moving house, having a baby or giving up smoking. This is a part of the experience of being human.

It only natural that when you embark on a new exercise and wellness plan that there will be days when you crave your old favourite comfort food – pizza, ice-cream, muffins or hot chips on a cold winters day!

These are cravings and the reality is that the foods you crave are the very foods that will undermine your fitness goals of exercise and good nutrition. I believe strict and rigid diets and even calling it  DIET can make you crave the foods you are trying so hard at eliminating from your life.

You can control your cravings – although this seems hard when you are in the middle of a craving session!! Consciously acknowledging and working through your cravings will make you stronger and more committed to fitness. Plus I promise you they wont last! In a few weeks your mind and body will be reprogrammed to crave beautiful real food that nourishes your body.

It's about feeding your body nutrient dense food types and getting good quality sleep and a fitness program that suits your lifestyle.

In the meantime here is a few simple ideas.

Here are few suggestions as craving busters – however remember PORTION SIZES! Don’t over eat or all your hard work will be undermined!

Practice Yoga
Plug into meditation music or a guided meditation
Go for a walk and listen to a podcast
Drink a big glass of warm water with lemon or make a herb tea
Do the ironing!!
Get busy in the garden – sweep the paths, rake the lawn – whatever it takes!!
Ring a friend for support
Do some simple yoga poses
Read a book or magazine
Look at your before photo for inspiration and strength

Sweet cravings:
Fresh fruit – bananas – apples, kiwi fruit, watermelon, orange ,beetroot– blend into a smoothie
2 x medjool dates – good for digestion and blood pressure. Fresh not dried dates
Apple with nut butter – creamy and crunchy
1 x dried fig
LIquorice tea is great for a sweet craving
5 x raisins and 5 x macdamia nuts

Savoury cravings:
Sunflower seeds baked or dehydrated with tamari sauce and sea salt
5 – 10 natural almonds
olives
5 – 10 tamari almonds – high in fibre and protein
roasted chickpeas. Drain a can of chickpeas and dry them. Then roast in oven with sea salt, olive oil and black pepper for 30 – 40 mins. Makes a great crunchy snack
spinach, celery, lemon, chia seeds, apple , carrot, ginger– blend into a smoothei
Carb cravings:
grainy/wholemeal rye or gluten free home made toast with avocado  and sliced tomato, fresh basil leaves, cashew nut cream
oven baked sweet potato chips
oats –plus a scoop of vegan protein powder, mix with water, with ¼ banana and 5 x blueberries and honey.
Cravings pass I promise!!

Continuing to support you on your fitness journey!

Zucchini's seem to hold a special place in my heart.

My first meeting with a zucchini was when I was about 8years old. Read on to find out how...and get my new Raw Zucchini Recipe

My favourite Uncle Ron was out from Canada and we were all staying at my Favourite and close Aunty Marlene's  and Uncle Graeme ( my dad's Brothers) Ron standing in Marlene's kitchen making a dish up for the family out of home grown zuccchini and tomatoes , grown from her garden- I was like yuck I am not eating that..! As a child I hated vegetables I think because they over cooked them and they always tasted bland and mushy to me. But these days the flavour of green just excites my soul, and left in there most natural state, I believe gives them the best
flavoursome taste.

I will have to ask mum to dig out that photo as I am sure there is one of Ron holding the zucchini ever. Unfortunately my Aunty and Uncle both passed away to cancer. My Dad also grows zucchini and has the best vegetable garden, I am sure Marlene and Dad were always competing who had the best grown vegetable especially when it came to tomatoes, I really miss those days in New Zealand.

HA thanks mum, here it is. Ok so I got it wrong, I am holding the zucchini,  don't you love technology. I sent mum a message to find the photo and boom here it is!

As many of you know I have been working on a Project, a case study who is my wonderful

over, eating real food, and not feeling like she is on a diet.. YAY!
Over 7 weeks again now, Leanne reached out to me via Facebook...I think her message was a one liner like “Hey, do you do one on one consults, or help with nutrition? I really want to get on track and lose seem weight, I am so embarrassed.
I immediately set up a call to speak with Leanne, it was that first call, I just knew I had to help her one on one. From that day she has been a dream to work with, sometimes when I open her messages she almost brings a tear to my eye, of Joy and feeling so proud of her, especially the day she sent me al little video of her doing my gym training program, with such amazing body alignment and technique . I was like... hang on a minute this girl has done this before...! There is so much I could share of her already amazing transformation but Leanne is now sharing her journey in a daily snippet blog, you really should check it out.
Any change in life, doesn't come easy, it doesn't come with out planning, tools and help. And that my friends is exactly what I spend my time doing. Providing you a program with a plan, tools and helping you achieve your own greatness and success what ever your goal is.

10 Week Body Transformation Winter Programe begins 7th July 2018
Have you thought about wanting to lose 5 to 10kg or more and just found it too
overwhelming!
I have an answer to your dilemma!
I am a boutique fitness coach who designs an eating and exercise plan tailor made to your needs. Its not a diet but rather a 10 week transformation of body and lifestyle – I promise you will
never be hungry and you will never look back.

How do you register your interest? By simply commenting ’yes I’m in’ and I will do the rest. A simple phone call and chat will get you started.

My 10 week Body Transformation Winter programe starts on the 7th July 2018

The point of difference for my training is that I am a boutique coach – if you need me I am
at the end of the phone. I don’t take on mass clients as I believe the best way to help people is to
give them personal feedback.

We have a great ‘Winter’ team who already have made the commitment to change their lives through changing their bodies!

Over the next 10 weeks I will be working with a small group to get them ready for their transformation into Spring. Start summer with the fitness you’ve always wanted.

The program:
A boutique but structured step by step 10 week program that makes it easy – you will know
what to do every step of the way’:
• A small group of motivated women who are willing to implement the changes, test
them on their own body and report the results back to me.
• Each week we focus on one of the Key Strategies around health and fitness
• Weekly online meetings and a Private Facebook page allow the group to get together and give feedback. This allows me to formulate strategies that we put into action so you get the results you want.
• We will be using the data to inspire and help other women to make the commitment and head off on their own journey. If you are happy to share your work in a case study that would be even better!

The investment:
A small investment can get you on your way .

What do I need to do now?
In the comments section write ‘yes I’m in’ and I will book in a free no obligation chat.

I would love to work with you…. Talk soon
