How to make Nicky's Healing Chai Teas

How to make Nicky's Chai Tea

I have reawakened a powerful blend of ancient Ayurveda spices that I call RawCia Tea, Raw and Cia is what we often call my eldest daughter Lucia, her name means golden light, it reminds me of her, healing energy and light, golden for the turmeric. My Ancient tea spices range is Original Chai, Chocolate Chip Chai and Turmeric Chai. I am so excited to share my healing teas with you and the world.

Thank you for purchasing my tea on your last detox retreat, workshop or cooking demo.

Once you have purchased my new chai teas you will be transformed to a whole new way of thinking and drinking tea to heal. You become part of my tea family.

Here is everything you need to know about how  to make my tea and it's amazing healing properties.

What do you need

Chai Tea

Tea Pot or a cup with tea strainer

Step 1.

1 dessert spoon of Chai Tea
Add to a tea pot or your special tea cup with strainer

Step 2.

Brew for 3 -5 mins

The longer it's brewed the stronger

Step 3.

Once brewed, pour 1/2 cup of brewed chai and top with hot water

Optional add honey for a sweeter taste

Note: If you are using the tea cup with strainer which are fantastic for travelling, you may even see me travel with mine and bring on my retreats… you can brew as normal, use strainer provided in the tea cup always to pour into a cup.
Top with boiling water as needed.

Secret:  Your Chai Tea will last 2-3 days in tea pot, keep brewing the same batch, you can add a teaspoon more ingredients to make it stronger.

I brew mine until the flavours become weak.

The ingredients in your chai tea is filled with expensive and quality  spices like star anise & cardamom and chunks of real cinnamon bark
and the amazing healing turmeric, so don't throw the used tea brew out until it's brewed weak.

Want to make a golden latte- as a treat.

Super simple Golden Latte

What do you need

  • Turmeric Chai
  • Home made almond milk
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Saucepan

1 dessert spoon of my Turmeric Chai Tea
1 cup of home made almond milk –see recipe
Add 1 teaspoon honey OMG yum
Brew in a saucepan, stir with a wooden spoon, slowly as you bring to the boil, then turn off, pour slowly and strain through a tea strainer,  sprinkle cinnamon on top, and even drizzle honey  or sprinkle with more cocoa powder.
Enjoy with a friend or a book in the sun.

Turmeric has very powerful healing properties.

My Story

I have used it for years. I can feel my own healing in joints and even dental health.
This spice chai & turmeric has been used in India for thousands of  years. It's ancient and a medicinal herb.

By drinking my tea it is healing your body. If you have dental issues use it as a mouth wash. The amount of turmeric used in my tea is strong enough to act as a anti bacterial mouth wash, and keep gum disease at bay and any infections in the mouth.

The healing properties found in Turmeric, known as Curcumin which is the principal curcuminoid that demonstrates the pharmacological properties of turmeric.

In Indian and in my Yoga Teacher training we study Ayurveda  a powerful blend of ancient Ayurveda spices that we call medicinal spices & herbs for healing. All the spices that perfectly make up my original chai tea blend provide healing. I named it "original " because I wanted to keep it as an original recipe as possible from where it originated India.  The two go together so well yoga and chai. The difference with mine is it is made with intense flavor and real turmeric chunks and cinnamon bark.

My own personal story of discovering chai tea has not been previously been spoken of publicly. I want to share this with you.
When I was on my teacher training in LA BIKRAM YOGA 2013… I can't even believe that is 5 years ago. I developed a very bloated tummy, because of the high intense heated classes sometimes up to 50 degree and drinking up to 6-7 litres of water per day, my body and kidneys were not coping, it was too much water for my little body to cope and the problem occurred trying to replace the electrolytes. I feared I would dehydrate. I drank loads of coconut water, lemon and salt water  and water.  I was out of balance through the training with my tummy feeling bloated and not hungry up until I reached out to my friend an Ayurveda Doctor Rama Prasad who organized  a Skype session, this was the turning point for me, to discover what the ancients already new.
He told me to do a technique that is too in depth to explain here which is calked Kunjal Kriya, but there is a blog about my experience found at Nicky Arthur The Power of Living Raw if you want to know more on this crazy but wonderful technique.

Rama recommended  I drink chai tea and a lot of it.  I remember thinking where am I going to find Chai Tea at the Raddison Hotel, where we were staying  for a long ten weeks away from family and friends. But funny enough where I ordered my breakfast everyday in the restaurant they made a natural and strong brew of chai tea, from a tea bag, yes in Los Angeles! I could tell this was a very good tea blend.

In fact I was never to find that chai tea taste again. When I returned to Australia I went on a Chai seeking journey. That lives with me today. I travel a lot and it's very difficult to find a real Authentic original spicy healing tea, that you know has the healing spices with intense flavor, with all respect to the local cafes and places I travel, I rarely find a good strong natural chai tea latte. There is one secret place I go in Mosman and the lady knows exactly how I like it, she takes time to brew it and makes it with love, there is a difference.

I found relief in my tummy automatically. I was able to ease the bloating while finishing my training, and as soon as the training was over and less time spent in the hot room, seemed better but since the training I have continued to drink my chai tea and recently the Turmeric Chai tea that has transformed my health even more.

Chai tea and Turmeric has been used in Eastern medicine for thousands of years, this amazing synergy of spices contain potent anti-inflammatory properties, that can assist with working as a natural anti-depressant, aiding digestion and is packed with antioxidants.

My own personal experience with chai tea and turmeric has rocked my world, that is why I am so passionate about making and Sharing my teas.

There are endless health benefits.

Here is a just few go to name.

Turmeric Contains Bioactive Compounds With Powerful Medicinal Properties.
Curcumin is a Natural Anti-Inflammatory Compound
Turmeric Dramatically Increases The Antioxidant Capacity of the Body - amazing!
Relieve inflammation, even my mum has received healing and awesome benefits in her body and joints.
Relieve joint pain associated with mild osteoarthritis
Increase joint mobility and reduce joint stiffness associated with mild osteoarthritis
Maintain general wellbeing- take it everyday

A number of laboratory studies on cancer cells have shown that curcumin does have anticancer effects. It seems to be able to kill cancer cells and prevent more from growing. It has the best effects on breast cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer and skin cancer cells

Lack of oral hygiene can make the mouth susceptible to disorders or infections like gingivitis, dental cavities, periodonitis, oral cysts, ulcers, oral cancer etc.

Turmeric  can be used as a mouthwash, it  is as effective as chlorhexidine mouthwash and can be used as an adjunct and low cost measure to control plaque. It worked for me
and as a preventative health technique what gave you got to lose, but only gain more benefits with the healing amazing turmeric.

Turmeric’s role as an anti-cancer is well known. It is no surprise it can help in oral cancer too. I hope you found this article helpful for when you next brew a cup of my chai tea.
Thank you for purchasing my chai teas.

I hope you have found this useful in making your new Chai Tea.

Moving Forward

Imagine you are balancing perfectly still in this yoga pose. You have one leg raised and one is  firmly planted on the ground. One hand reaching forward, one hand firmly gripping your foot, often grasping for breath and balance.  Your eyes are open, gazing forward, and finally you feel that moment where your  mind is free of thoughts and focused on nothing else but remaining still and calm.

No matter how strong or balanced you are at holding this position, you'll always be moving, subtly to maintain balance, finding stillness, trying to go to your edge.

This is exactly what managing your life is like, just as you need continue to tweak your posture to maintain balance, and keep moving forward, you'll need to continue fine-tuning, tweaking and developing your mind body soul, your life philosophies, strategies and plans to remain successful happy and balanced.

Keep your eye to where you want to go, not the last, but stay present in your day to day life, tweaking and knowing by keeping on the Moore and fine tuning when you can will help you move forward to reach your goals.

Welcome Alone Time

Welcome  Alone Time.

Over the past few weeks it's been a little crazy but amoungst the busy time I was gifted with some "Alone Time."

So over the past week, I have embraced this time almost as though I am the one on the "retreat."

I set up a week routine  including Nature Time, Meditation  and using my gratitude journal, just as though it was me on the retreat. In between  those times I continued my busy work life. No TV, just my thoughts, dreams & aspirations.

I needed to restore my own physical body and mind, snuggle up early to bed , practice yoga on my own mat, and meditate.

I know if you are reading this and you a a working mum, don't forget I have and still am on that special beautiful, vibrant, busy learning path of motherhood. So I constantly get the time management and the overwhelm of it. That is why I wrote my first book How To Be A Happier Mum.
To find balance in energy, hormones and mind. Such a beautiful book and tool kit, for busy mums, including bite size reminders how to look after yourself, so you can be the best version of yourself to others.

I think of beautiful late Charlotte Dawson, a model, TV Celebriry on super models, a New Zealand & Australia  personality celebrity, who took her life in her own hands and sadly ended it...that rocked my world, as someone who I admired, looked to have everything, beauty & fame yet couldn't find that way to get her mindset above the line that day, to reach out and make those changes. I only wish I had that opportunity to work with Charlotte.

Women can feel lonely, but also that "Alone Time" teaches us so much about ourselves, our thoughts and habits.

There are many single mums, and women on their own, it's only temporary until you meet your match. But how do you feel when you have Alone Time. Feeling lonely can teach you a lot about yourself.

For those like me who are crazily constantly creating and busy need it.

If you spend a lot of time on your own, you may need a mentor or coach to help you get into a space where you feel balanced and nurtured.

To purchase Happier Mum go to ITunes and download it from there.

However regardlsss of who you are, what you have, or don't have, time or no time on your side, where you are, a working mum or not a mum. We need a moment each day, to sit in stillness alone, to listen to our inner voice, surround yourself around nature, meditate, practice your gratitude journal.
The elements of NATURE are unlimited grounding tools for me.

So take a moment today.

If you are feeling down, low or sick of living with negative habitual  patterns that you know deep down are holding you back, contact me today for my lifestyle coaching/mentoring.
It could be the best descision you have made in a long time.
I would love the opportunity to work with you.

Fertility Success Story

The story is common. Thinking back maybe we all learned our lessons too well back in junior high, that squirming uncomfortably feeling in class  as our Sex Talk  Teacher ominously warned how easy it was to get pregnant! Thankfully around those years I had the love and passion for riding horses, so boys was far from my mind. Many of us certainly devoted enough effort trying to avoid it all these years until the time was right. Especially I would think in late teens early 20's and now days even 30's.

The fact is, however, that falling preganant seems to be often more difficult than we've assumed, especially the older we get.

Don't worry The Odds Are in Your Favor

Rest assured that the odds are definitely with you. About 85 percent of all couples will get pregnant within a year, but it's also wise to have some realistic expectations. The average time it takes to conceive, for instance, is about six months, and women under 35 should wait until they've tried for a year before they consider calling their doctor or a fertility specialist with concerns, many women panic it doesn't happen automatically. I was 31 when I had my first baby, Lucia. It took me a sudden change in diet, and fitness regime to realise I had to pour absolute everything into looking after my temple to insure I would conceive quickly & smoothly.

It took me 4 cycles to fall pregnant. The day I found out, my husband was singing on stage in an opera, I had to wait a very long 4 hrs before I was able to share the exciting and wonderful news. I spent that four hours looking in the mirror saying "OMG I am pregnant, I'm going to become a mum." I kept looking in the mirror trying to poke out my belly to try visualise what I would look like with a preganant belly! I loved the thought I had someone else to think about. It took every inch of selfishness away, I had a baby to care for from that day, and make sure that everything I did was helping me and my baby to have a healthy pregnancy. I embraced more of my yoga, I had a home practice and a room set up for meditation my babies  started yoga in my belly.

Meditation and Hypnosis relaxation was a big part of my practice.

In today's fast pace and demanding world we hear more and more women going through IVF... or having long periods of no luck.

For older women, the picture changes. Not only could it take longer to conceive, but there are fewer chances of succeeding. It is still possible, and that is why holistic approach works for women over 35.

Women 35 and older who think things aren't quite right, maybe their menstrual cycle is off, should bring that to someone's attention fairly quickly -- within three months if they're not pregnant yet,  your body speaks to you and it's very important to learn how to read it and listen to it's changes.

If things seem absolutely fine, then they should contact someone after six months. It can take that time.

One of my secrets is to let go of the obsession of thinking about it, to learn how to relax and work with your mind & body for a successful pregnancy, and birth.

A recent story....

I first met Nicky in Oct 2016 when I attended my first yoga retreat with her. I had booked  a one on one coaching session  with Nicky and  told her that I wanted to refocus back on myself. I had some issues falling pregnant and it was consuming me. By the end of the retreat I felt good and  found myself happy to focus on me again.

I landed a job in the November and love did it. I was enjoying being me again. A few months ago I found work and trying to fall pregnant has consumed me once again and I have forgotten about myself. I started hating work and myself for not falling  pregnant. Nicky had a retreat coming up in March so I signed up and thought it's the right time for me to start focusing on myself again.

I missed the morning yoga session due to work. So I arranged to catch up at lunch with Nicky to go over a few things. I told Nicky that my partner and I were going to start IVF in a couple of months. Nicky set me a goal for the weekend a mindset exercise that was to let go. Let go of the stress of trying to fall pregnant and the stress of work. To let go off the attachment.

The morning yoga of the second day I became frustrated with myself and couldn't focus on the yoga poses. I went to the raw tasting and cooking class. I found myself feeling a bit low.

 Although I was fasting.

I was at home and it wasn't long until the afternoon yoga was going to start. I knew I had one last pregnancy test in the house. I said "In order for me to let go I'm going to get rid of the test!!" I didn't want to waste it either and thought its going to come back negative anyway. Just do it and let go of trying to get pregnant. After 3mins was about to throw it in the bin and I looked at it and it was positive.

Nicky helped me to let go and in doing so I got the most wonderful gift you could ever imagine. No words can discribe how much going to Nicky's  yoga retreats and meeting her has helped me. I was so happy to share that moment with her.

Happy Easter ~ get my raw chocolate treat recipe

Happy Easter 🙏🏻🐰

Sending you and your family good health, love peace and happiness.

"When you find inner peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others." ~ Nicky x

n a m a s t e

Nicky 👌🏻🐰xx

Easter time can be a time to restore, be with family and friends, it can be a great time of the year to stop reflect in how your year is tracking and give thanks to life, and all you have to be grateful for.

Easter time can provide you with some stillness, prayer time, and even timeout to revisit this years goals dreams and aspirations.

Easter time in many families holds tradition, holidays, getaways, and togetherness.

For over 50 years my family have been going to Central Otago, Alexandra and for the very first time this year, it has changed. In the past my Dad, Brother, Uncles cousins and extended male family go on a fishing trip. They stay in their fishing hut, that they made over the years their Man Cave.

They hold a fishing competition,  sit around the billie, cooking their fish and food packed by their wives, telling stories from the past and jokes that us women don't need to hear.

They usually return on Easter Sunday, with their fish and my dear late Aunty Marlene would line the fish up and take photos. We would all then come together for a Easter Sunday roast and family togetherness, and laughter.

It was like this for many many years. It is sad my Aunty and uncle and my cousin who all passed away to cancer are no longer with us. I have also been living away from home and Easter time has taken on a different tradition. My cousins and brother are continuing on the Fishing Trip to keep the family tradition alive. But the dynamics has changed significantly, that's life forever changing and evolving.

My girls are growing up and the Easter Hunt and bringing out their easter bunny baskets since they were babies is hanging in there but very soon, things will change and Easter Hunts won't be so cool, but the baskets will always be bought out and filled maybe with some fresh figs and grapes with my healthy raw vegan chocolate ready for those who visit.

Most families have a family tradition at Easter and it's a time I treat like Xmas, as an Entrepreneur I take time out to look at my goals, my plans and track how the year as a quarter has looked and resulted. It's a brain storming weekend that I have done for many years. To stop when the world is stoping and resting.

Easter doesn't have to be always about chocolate, set up some time to spend around nature, goal planning, business development time, or maybe cooking some healthy teas vegan amazing yummy treats.

Cacao powder is full of nutrients. It looks like cocoa but retains all its natural

goodness making it a good substitute to eat when you crave chocolate. Serves 4

1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) coconut oil
1 cup (8 oz/225 g) Raw cacao powder
1⁄2 cup (21⁄2 oz/75 g) goji berries, plus extra to decorate 1⁄2 cup (21⁄2 oz/75 g) cranberries, plus extra to decorate 1⁄2 teaspoon Himalayan sea salt

Melt the coconut oil in a pan over gentle heat until liquid. Add the cacao powder and salt and stir through. Add the goji berries and cranberries. Pour into a 61⁄2 x 4 in (17 x 11 cm) container lined with baking paper. Add more berries pushing them into the top for decoration.

Easter Buns

For the Buns
1⁄2 cup flax meal (ground linseeds)
1 cup  almond flour (I use dehydrated almond pulp left over from making almond milk)
1⁄2 cup pecans, finely chopped
1⁄2 cup spelt flakes
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 dates, soaked in 1⁄2 cup  filtered water for 10 minutes
1 tablespoon chia mixed with
1/cup filtered water
11⁄2 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup  filtered water

For the Filling
1/cup almonds, soaked in filtered water for 3 hours
1⁄2 cup  cashew nuts, soaked in filtered water for 3 hours 1 cup young coconut (the white part)
2 fresh dates blended with 3 tablespoons filtered water
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/cup raisins

For the Icing
1⁄2 cup cashew butter
2 tablespoons maple syrup (not Raw) 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cinnamon powder 3 teaspoons filtered water

To make the buns, combine the flax meal, almond flour, finely chopped pecans, spelt flakes and cinnamon in a large bowl.

In another bowl, combine the date paste, olive oil and water. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

Spread in a rectangle on baking paper or a sheet of Teflex to less than 1⁄2 in (1.25 cm) thick. Dehydrate at 145°C/290°F for 30 minutes. Peel off the paper and dehydrate at 115°C/240°F for another 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Tip the drained soaked almonds and cashews into the bowl of a food processor or blender and process with the coconut, dates and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the raisins.

To make the icing, mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl.

Place a bun on a serving plate. Spread with filling and roll up carefully like a bun shape, or spread on top and add icing. Serve with thawed frozen boysenberries.

Nicky's Skin Smoothing Smoothie: Radiant Glowing Skin

  • 1 tbspn Organic Cacao Powder
  • ¼ avocado
  • 1 small cucumber
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 inch of raw turmeric (if you can't get it, use 1 tbsp organic turmeric spice)
  • 1 cup  of spinach
  • 1/2 tsp peppercorns

Why is this smoothie great for CLEAR, RADIANT SKIN?

  1. Spinach. This leafy green is loaded with lutein, the more & greens the clearer your eyes. which will keep your eyes sparkling and your skin radiant. Spinach  is also a good source of omega-3s, potassium, magnesium, and vitamins B, C, and E.
  2. Turmeric. Anti inflammatory,

It has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb.

Recently, science has started to back up what the Indians have known for a long time,  containing compounds with medicinal properties

Unfortunately, curcumin ( turmeric) is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream. It helps to consume black pepper with it, that enhances the absorption of curcumin by 2000% that is why you will see peppercorns in my recipes with Turmeric.

  1. Avocado is loaded with skin-healthy monounsaturated fats, enabling your body to efficiently absorb fat-soluble nutrients for skin health.
  2. Rich in vitamin C, lemon will help your body purge excess water weight and balance the sodium and potassium levels in your cells -say goodbye to face bloating, fluid retention.
  3. cucumbers contain hydrating, nourishing and astringent properties that are very good for skin and digestion. Blend up a cucumber in your green smoothie to fight inflammation when a breakout is coming on!

Breakouts usually come from 3 simple things

1. Nutrition

2. Hormonal imbalance

3 . Stress ( this is a big one, so make sure you relax and practice time out to keep skin and digestion under check!)
